Apartment Living in Marietta, GA
The city of Marietta is located 15 miles north west of Atlanta along the I-75 corridor. Established in 1834, its one of Atlanta's oldest suburbs with a beautifully preserved downtown square complete with historic homes, unique shops and a town Theater. While it is considered a suburb of Atlanta, Marietta is very self-sufficient with its own school system, hospital, rail system, commuter transportation, and all other services you would expect in a big city. Because of its location, it is also a short distance from Lake Allatoona, the North Georgia Mountains and Chattanooga, TN.
Marietta has many different districts complete with their own flavors. In the east, Marietta is primarily a popular residential community with a true family-friendly feel. East Cobb, as it is called, is populated with an abundance of traditional shopping, excellent restaurants, movie theaters and parks. It also boasts exceptional schools, an Atlanta JCC campus, the Chattahoochee outdoor River Park and Nature Center. The center portion of Marietta is the oldest, most developed and has the most number of rental developments, businesses and other city conveniences. The historic square, Kennestone hospital and a major access road, Highway 41, are all located in this commercialized portion of the city. Not far from Marietta's town center is Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, which is a great place for outdoor recreation. Just past the mountain is the western portion of Marietta. This area is only newly being developed. Mostly residential, West Cobb, as it is called, is populated with single family homes, shopping plazas, and some newer apartment communities. This portion of Marietta is not adjacent to any major roads or highways, so it offers less convenience, but it is quieter and the land is open.
Marietta is a city-unto itself convenient to a large urban environment of Atlanta. Within its borders, you'll find everything you need including some things you might not expect. Marietta is home to White Water Park. When your visiting, don't forget to drive by the Big Chicken, a Marietta icon and a directional landmark!
